Meet our new Artist of the Month... Kenvi. Based in Gujarat, India @calligraphystyles_13 passion for calligraphy has grown since her school days. Read on to find out more about our Artist of the Month!
What is your background and when did your passion for Calligraphy and Lettering begin?
Since my school days I was fond of writing headings in different fonts and handwriting. At that time I didn't know that there is different world of calligraphy and lettering waiting to be explored. I started my journey from 2022.
Who / Where do you take your inspiration from?
I believe that inspiration is found everywhere around us. We are surrounded by art which makes our life colorful and inspiring. Social media made it easier to learn from various artists around the world and connect with them. Pinterest and Instagram are my favorite platforms for inspiration.
What in your opinion is the hardest and the most rewarding parts of working in a creative industry?
The hardest part of working in creative industry is comparison with other artists. We see many creative and brilliant artworks on social media everyday so as a beginner or as a professional, knowingly or unknowingly we tend to compare our level, style and popularity with other artists, doubting our own talent. The most rewarding part is getting better and better every time we create a new piece of art, getting better than what we were yesterday.
Do you have a favourite style?
I really love and enjoy all the styles of Calligraphy and painting as well. There’s no specific favourite style. All the unique calligraphy and lettering styles and Calligraphy pens inspires me and I enjoy them equally.
What are the most exciting projects you have worked on and what are you working on at the moment?
The most existing project or I can say the biggest project is to get a chance to be artist of the month of Manuscript. I am really grateful and glad for this opportunity. Currently I am learning different monoline fonts for pen Calligraphy.
How does your work relate to your everyday life?
My Calligraphy works helps as a stress reliever and helps me pause everything. I find passion and purpose by entering the world calligraphy.
What are your favourite tools to use?
All the tools which are helpful in Calligraphy are my favourite. Specifically I like pens because with them I can create all kinds of calligraphy and lettering.
What would your advice be to people new to the creative industry and any tips on how to get started?
My advice is to go with the flow, have trust on oneself, learn new things from lots of amazing artists around the world, never compare your level, talent, popularity with anyone because everyone here is unique and capable, trust your journey and don’t give up by considering the social media followers, explore your talent and new styles.
