The Story Behind World Calligraphy Day
Our Managing Director, Charlie Stockbridge, has been a passionate advocate of the calligraphy industry for many years. While looking through the events calendar, he noticed that although there were official days dedicated to all sorts of things, there wasn’t one for calligraphy. A whole day dedicated to celebrating the industry and raising awareness for this historic craft simply didn’t exist. And so, World Calligraphy Day was born.
Recently, the date has been fixed so that every year, World Calligraphy Day will be held on 16th August. Each year we mark the occasion with a full week of events, competitions, and celebrations, all leading up to the big day itself.
World Calligraphy Day is an opportunity for both budding and experienced calligraphers to get involved. Whether you’re picking up an italic pen for the very first time or unboxing your tenth dip pen, there’s something for everyone.
