Manuscript’s story is deeply rooted in the rich tradition of British craftsmanship. It all began in 1856 in the heart of Birmingham, England, when Diedrich Leonardt founded D. Leonardt & Co. - a pioneering company that quickly gained a global reputation for producing high-quality nibs in an extraordinary variety of shapes and sizes. These nibs became the trusted tools of writers, artists, and calligraphers across the world.

Over 160 years later, we are proud to still be a family-owned business, now in its fifth generation. Since 1947, we’ve called the beautiful county of Shropshire our home, continuing to uphold the values of quality, tradition, and innovation that have defined us for over a century and a half.
